Bonehead Jeds are skeletal dinosaur enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch ports, in the Cliff world.
Bonehead Jeds ride inside a small barrel cart filled with tar that hides most of their body. When Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong approach a Bonehead Jed, it extends its long neck, attempting to prevent them from passing; if the Kongs come in contact with a Bonehead Jed, they lose a heart. The Kongs can defeat a Bonehead Jed by stomping on its head twice, and the first hit temporarily immobilizes them. Kong Rolls are ineffective against Bonehead Jeds.
Although Bonehead Jeds' concept artwork shows them with the ability to spit out tar projectiles from their mouth, they cannot do so during the game. They have a fire-spitting variety known as Hothead Jed.
