A Pinchly (pluralized as Pinchlys[1][2] or Pinchlies[3]) is an enemy in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its port. Pinchlys are first encountered in the Beach world as prominent enemies, and later also appear in Mast Blast and Tippy Shippy. These red crabs are essentially a stronger variant of Snippys, but Pinchlys also wear a blue and white pirate bandanna. Like Snippys, Pinchlys simply move from side to side, though they are quicker. If Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong gets in contact with a Pinchly, it pinches them, and the Kongs lose a heart. When the Kongs jump on a Pinchly, it raises its pincers. During this, the Kongs can Ground Pound next to the Pinchly to flip it over, then jump on the Pinchly to defeat it. If the Kongs do not defeat the Pinchly quickly enough, it gets back upright and resumes moving around. The Kongs can also defeat a Pinchly by rolling into it while its pincers are raised, or by rolling on top of it from a higher platform while its pichers are low.
A piece of concept artwork titled "Pinchly & Pal", unlockable in-game, shows a Pinchly next to an unknown red crab with a sword replacing its right pincer. However, this specific crab is not featured in any level.
