- —Cranky Kong, Donkey Kong Country Returns
The Beach is the second world of Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Like the other areas of Donkey Kong Island, it is infested by the Tiki Tak Tribe, who have taken Donkey Kong's banana hoard. Many of its levels take place around water or on ships. It also features some new mechanics that are not seen in the first world, Jungle, such as bomb-shooting ships. New enemies are also in this world, such as crabs and electric jellyfish. The Beach shares similarities to Aqua World from DK: King of Swing. When asked if they were the same location, senior designer Kynan Pearson approved of the idea.[1]
The boss fought in the Beach area is the Scurvy Crew.
Appearance[edit]
From the world map, the Beach appears to be a bay hosting several small islands on it, each one being a level. The world map shows Cranky's Shop and the boss level appearing on a patch of grass.
The earlier levels take place in a calm, peaceful atmosphere featuring a few clouds. A few patches of grass and palm trees appear in parts of the level. Many of the levels have small rocks sticking out from the water. Contrarily, a few of the later levels have dark clouds, strong waves, and a high tides. One of the levels takes place in mild, cloudy weather while another features numerous ships firing cannonballs directly at the Kongs.
Shipwrecks tend to appear in the level in a level, which can either assist him or impede his progress. Oftentimes Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong can only cross over the water by jumping from pieces of wrecked ships.
