Firebrand and Thunderhand are two beings (described as genies[1] or guardian spirits[2]) that appear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake. They both wear white cloaks, are capable of floating in the air, and they always appear in a flash of fire and thunder, respectively. Firebrand's head is styled after a sun, while Thunderhand's head is shaped like a moon crescent. Firebrand is forgetful and easygoing, in contrast with Thunderhand's no-nonsense attitude. Firebrand and Thunderhand inhabit the Fire Palace and Thunder Palace and are the masters of two respective types of Hand Power: the Firebrand, taught to Mario, and the Thunderhand, taught to Luigi.
