- “Woo-hoo! I'm the winner! Woo-hoo!”
- —Toadette, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Toadette is a minor character in the Super Mario series and its spin-offs. Originally introduced as a playable racing partner for Toad in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, she has since appeared in many other spin-offs as a playable character and has played small, non-playable roles in both Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix.
Much of Toadette's background is undeveloped. DDR: Mario Mix revealed that she owned and operated a seaside hotel. Super Smash Bros. Brawl claimed that she is a, "star among Toads," and the Official Prima Guide for Mario Kart Wii claimed that Toadette is Toad's sister. Beyond this, little is confirmed.
Biography
Racing Debut
Toadette first appeared in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as Toad's racing partner. Both Toad and Toadette need to be unlocked before they become playable characters, and are unlocked by winning the Special Cup at 100cc. Additionally, she has her personal kart, the Toadette Kart. It can only be unlocked by completing the Mushroom Cup in Mirror Mode, which can only be done after Toadette herself has been unlocked. Both characters are lightweights, and their special item is the Golden Mushroom.
Paper Tutorials
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Toadette appears whenever Mario discovers a Hammer, or a new pair of Boots. Toadette hosts a tutorial session with Mario explaining how to use the newfound ability.
Party Girl
Toadette has become a recurring character in the Mario Party series. In Mario Party 6, Toadette can be unlocked by paying the Star Bank thirty Stars. In the sequels, Mario Party 7 and Mario Party 8, she does not need to be unlocked. In Mario Party 7, Toad and Toadette share the same special orb, the Triple 'Shroom Orb, which allows the player to roll two dice blocks for three turns. Though not playable, Toadette makes a minor appearance in Mario Party DS with her own board, Toadette's Music Room. Toadette also appears as a co-host in Mario Party Advance.
Out to the Ball Game
Mario Superstar Baseball is Toadette's first sports appearance. Toadette is a speed character who starts out on Peach's team in Challenge Mode. Toadette ties with Yoshi as the fastest character in the game, and she also happens to be the only sub-character with two special abilities: "Sliding Catch" and "Wall Jump". Toadette must be unlocked by playing through Challenge Mode as Peach's team. She also makes another playable appearance in Mario Super Sluggers, where one again, she is unlockable.
Dancing the Night Away
During the events of Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, Toadette opens a hotel by the sea in World 2-1. However, because of the chaos caused by the removal of the Music Keys from Truffle Towers, her hotel becomes twisted like a corkscrew. Mario (or Luigi) arrives and, by the request of Toadette, uses the power of dancing to return her hotel to its original shape.
Returning to Her Roots
Toadette returns to the Mario Kart series as an unlockable character in Mario Kart Wii. Toadette is a lightweight, and is unlocked by completing time trials on all 32 tracks consecutively, or by getting 1000 wins on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Toadette is able to use all of the small sized karts, each one being recolored to match her personal style.
Personality
Toadette is generally happy, bright, and energetic. Toadette is portrayed to be friendly, and she enjoys being with others. Toadette has many of the same personality traits as her brother, Toad. Toadette can also be rather childish, and easily gets upset, as seen in Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door. Toadette states that she likes animals, and that she was saddened when Punio stopped visiting the Rogueport Sewers. Also, if the player changes the time on their GameCube's clock, Lucky, who runs the Rogueport lottery, will mention that the lottery numbers were messed up because someone changed the clock, and that when he told this to Toadette she "cried her little eyes out.", showing that at times she can be very emotional. This is also supported when, during the last tutorial session with Mario, Toadette runs off crying knowing she will not see the plumber hero for the rest of his adventure. Mario Party DS indicates that she is interested with music and musical instruments. Mario DDR also shows she can be quite pushy, forcing Mario and Toad to fix her hotel even though they were in a hurry to find the Music Keys.
Character Description
Toadette is a pink-capped, white-spotted Toad with pink plaits. Like all Toads, she has beady eyes and is very short. Toadette wears a pink dress-shirt with a thin white line going through the bottom of it. She also wears a red vest with a light gold trim over her dress. In her earlier appearances, Toadette was depicted as wearing a red dress-shirt and a dark red vest. This design was changed in Mario Party 6, in which she was given her current design. Her pigtails had a noticeably darker shade of pink than her mushroom cap in Mario Kart Wii. Her trophy information in Super Smash Bros. Brawl states she is a star among the Toads.

It is stated in the guide for Mario Kart Wii that Toadette was excited after getting permission from Peach to race, indicating a family-like bond.
This is further supported in Mario Party DS. It is stated that after Peach heard Toadette play a music piece, she gave her a set of touching trumpets. Peach was touched when she discovered how happy Toadette was to have them. In addition to the trumpets Peach also gave her a table. Toadette currently resides with Peach in her castle.
