Krashes (also known as Cart Kritters[1]) are Kritters who ride in Mine Carts uncontrollably. They appear in Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong 64. In the latter game, Krashes were redesigned to have a muscular appearance and wield a club, both of which further distinguish them from Kritters and closer to Klubba from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, Klanks are the successor to Krashes because they ride in Roller Coasters.
History
Donkey Kong Country
In their debut appearance in Donkey Kong Country, Krashes appear in both Mine Cart levels, Mine Cart Carnage and Mine Cart Madness. In their first level appearance, Krashes ride a Mine Cart in the opposite direction of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, and if they ram into the Kongs, the lead one falls out of the Mine Cart. Although Krashes look just as vulnerable as Kritters, the Kongs cannot jump on a Krash while riding on a Mine Cart, as this injures them while leaving the Krash unaffected; the Kongs must jump over the Krash instead.
Krashes make their second and final appearance in Mine Cart Madness. Here, they sit idly at the start of a track railing. Unlike in Mine Cart Carnage, the Kongs can safely jump on a Krash to hijack its Mine Cart, and resume riding on the tracks.
In the Game Boy Advance remake, Krashes were changed to have a light purple skin.
Donkey Kong 64
In Donkey Kong 64, Krashes appear in the Mine Cart Rides where they ride on a track adjacent to the Kongs. Krashes were redesigned to have a muscular appearance and wield a club, both of which further distinguish them from Kritters. The Kongs can jump over the club to avoid taking damage. If the Kongs are hit, they lose three DK Coins.
Krashes are defeated if they crash into a pile of rocks or fall into a pit. The active Kong usually has to pull a lever to defeat Krash either way.

Trivia
- Though Krashes never directly appeared on the Donkey Kong Country animated series, some episodes have Kritters riding around on minecarts, effectively making a Krash in a sense.
- In some courses of Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, Kritter can hop into a minecart, making him act like Krash.
- The original name for Krunch from Diddy Kong Racing was originally intended to be Krash, but was most likely changed to differentiate him from the already existing Krash enemies.
