“Ahoy there, Mario! I'm your friendly neighborhood Guide Toad!”
Guide Toad, Paper Mario: Color Splash

The Guide Toad is a character in Paper Mario: Color Splash, a cheerful green Toad holding a green flag and a green book. He appears immediately after Mario has unlocked Ruddy Road and returned to Port Prisma, at which point he is already situated just outside the exit tunnel. The first time Mario speaks to the Guide Toad, he tells him about accessing a map of Port Prisma via the manuel. He then claims he is good with directions, inquiring if Mario would like to know more about a specific district.

Mario may ask about the red district, blue district, yellow district, or none of the above. When inquired, the Guide Toad gives Mario a brief rundown of the chosen district, mentioning the most important locations in each one.

One of Huey's hints mentions a Toad holding a flag near the town entrance in the red district, suggesting they talk to him for help with navigation. This of course refers to the Guide Toad.

Guide Toad has various unused recolors within the data of Paper Mario: Color Splash. Although he does not return in Paper Mario: The Origami King, unused redrawn versions of his sprites can be found among other graphics of characters exclusive to Port Prisma, including recolors and back sprites.
