Cat Shine Shards are collectibles found exclusively in the Bowser's Fury campaign of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. They essentially resemble a less complex version of a Cat Shine, being red, shaped like a cat's head, and rimmed with gold. However, they lack the pointed decorations along the outside, and the cat-like facial features are depicted as barely-visible indents, as opposed to being gold as well.

Cat Shine Shards are scattered throughout the many islands of Lake Lapcat, either out in the open or hidden away. Collecting all five of them within an area is required to make a Cat Shine appear. In this way, they are similar to Moon Shards from Super Mario Odyssey, or Silver Stars from Super Mario 64 DS and the Super Mario Galaxy games. However, they are displayed at the bottom of the screen, unlike in those games.

If either Mario, Mario riding Plessie, or Bowser Jr. comes in contact with a Cat Shine Shard, it will be collected and displayed on the bottom of the screen, in relation to its position, with shards found earlier in the obstacle courses being placed more to the left. Cat Shine Shards can also be collected by throwing held objects at them, such as baseballs, shells, or kittens.

Cat Shine Shards are collectibles found exclusively in the Bowser's Fury campaign of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. They are smaller, less complex versions of Cat Shines, being red, shaped like a cat's head, and rimmed with gold, but lacking pointed decorations and gold facial features.

The fourth mission of each of the twelve major islands across Lake Lapcat is titled "Five Cat Shine Shards". As the name suggests, when Mario enters an area with this mission active, five Cat Shine Shards will be hidden throughout the island, sometimes out in the open but sometimes hidden in alcoves.

Similarly to Moon Shards from Super Mario Odyssey, or Silver Stars from Super Mario 64 DS and the Super Mario Galaxy games, collecting all five of them will make a Cat Shine appear, and collecting the Cat Shine will complete the mission. After the respective mission has been completed, Cat Shine Shards will no longer be present on the island.
