This article is about the Standard ATV. For other articles that use the name Standard, see Standard.

The Standard ATV (known as the Standard Quad in Europe and Oceania) is a type of ATV that is introduced in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is a four-wheeled version of the Standard Bike, but it has different stats. It shares its stats with the Steel Driver, Tri-Speeder, Badwagon, and GLA.

Most CPU-controlled characters will always pair the Standard ATV with the Monster tires, but all CPU-controlled lightweight characters (most notably the baby characters) will use the Standard tires with this vehicle body instead, with the exception of Larry and Wendy, who use the Monster tires like middleweights and heavyweights. Lakitu notably uses the Cloud Glider with this vehicle body unlike the others who all use the Super Glider.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it only shares its stats with the Badwagon and GLA. CPU Donkey Kong can be seen using this body with the Hot Monster tires, while Dry Bones is often seen using it with the Off-Road tires. In addition, Larry and Baby Rosalina pair this body with the Blue Standard tires.

Trivia

  • In the Koopalings' artwork, Morton Koopa Jr.'s Standard ATV is shown to have a black body with blue handlebars, while in the game, it has a green body and white handlebars.
  • Although the Standard ATV is classified as an ATV vehicle, it can be used by the player and CPU in "Karts Only" races.
  • This is the only "Standard" vehicle to have a four stroke engine.
    • When idling, it sounds like a single-cylinder, but when moving, its sound is more reminiscent of triple-cylinder.
  • Daisy and Baby Daisy are the only adult/baby counterpart characters who's Standard ATV color scheme differs, with Daisy's handlebars and engine cover being red-orange and Baby Daisy's being yellow.
  • Larry is the only Koopaling to share the same Standard (Standard Kart, Standard Bike or Standard ATV) body color scheme with another character, sharing with Yellow Yoshi, Shy Guy and Mii.
