Template:Item-infobox Moon Coins are like Star Coins, but have 3-Up Moons imprinted on them. They only appear in World Star of New Super Mario Bros. 2. As such, they cannot be used as Star Coins, meaning that they cannot be used to remove Star Coin Signs; collecting Moon Coins is only required to obtain a star icon on the player's profile.
Moon Coins also appear in Mario Golf: World Tour where they can be obtained by the player by accomplishing challenges that are harder than their Star Coin versions. In Moon Coin challenges, the coins and rings are placed in trickier positions, the characters to challenge in match plays have leveled up, the wind is stronger, and back tees are used.
