Clear Pipes[1] are pipes that are set to make their debut in the upcoming Wii U game Super Mario 3D World. Like Warp Pipes, they are used for traveling distances too far for a normal jump to reach. Unlike Warp Pipes, however, Clear Pipes are transparent, and the player can change direction while in one. Additionally, the player can enter a vertical Clear Pipe without having to press a button.
Fuzzies and projectiles such as Fire Bro. fireballs and spiked balls can travel through Clear Pipes. Such projectiles can be destroyed by Fire Flower fireballs or nearby red POW Blocks. Coins, Green Stars and other collectibles can also be found moving inside these pipes. Sometimes if spiked balls in these pipes are defeated, a 1-Up Mushroom will take its place.
Trivia
- This idea was inspired by Koichi Hayashida, who wondered what Mario did in Warp Pipes.
