Moon Pipe
A Moon Pipe in Super Mario Odyssey
First appearance Super Mario Odyssey (2017)

Moon Pipes[1] are a special kind of Warp Pipe that appears in Super Mario Odyssey. Moon Pipes are functionally identical to regular Warp Pipes and always lead to sub-levels. Moon Pipes appear in a kingdom after its respective Moon Rock has been activated. They also appear on the Dark Side of the Moon after the Broodals and RoboBrood have been defeated at Rabbit Ridge Tower; here, they lead to alternate versions of previous sub-levels where Mario must capture Yoshi and eat fruits to obtain the Power Moons within.

Trivia

  • In Assist Mode, some of the sub-areas accessed via Moon Pipes do not prevent Mario from falling into pits or getting burned by rising lava, due to disappearing terrain.[2]
  • The top of a Moon Pipe is not registered as a valid place for a bubble to return Mario to in Assist Mode. [3]
