The Sports Coupe (known as Sports Coupé in Europe and Australia) is an unlockable kart body that appears in Mario Kart 8. The design is reminiscent to the Wild Wing from Mario Kart Wii, except that it have a yellow color and lacked the wing-shaped spoiler. Unlike most other vehicles, it has three exhaust pipes. It offers a boost in speed and weight, but a decrease in acceleration and a large decrease in traction. It has identical stats to the Mach 8, Circuit Special, Gold Standard, B Dasher, and P-Wing. Like the Circuit Special, its engine sound is reminiscent to a real life racing car and is one of the vehicles in Mario Kart 8 to have a supercharged engine.
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, CPU Daisy and Isabelle can be seen occasionally riding this kart with Standard tires. Donkey Kong is also seen using this kart occasionally but pairs it up with the Monster tires instead
