Levels

World 3-1

Layout

Mario starts in a giant sand platform with a tall tower in the center. In the sides, Mario will face Sandmaarghs and Pokeys. There are also a P-Switch that creates a very long trail of sixty-four Rainbow Notes, which give the player a Super Leaf, if the player is not in Tanooki form, or a !-Up if they are. An elevated area with a Cannon can be used to reach the tower's door, which is guarded by a Thwomp, a Wallop and a Blokkablok. Mario can grab a Propeller Block, located next to two groups of three ascending coins near the first Star Coin, and use it to fly above a bunch of Used Blocks and a Fake Block before reaching a door on the right-hand side, allowing him to enter the tower. Inside the tower, there is a narrow path with two Thwomps, a Blokkablok and more Pokeys in a quicksand pool. A Warp Box will warp Mario to the next story, that contains a door. This door leads Mario to an outdoors area, with moving platforms that lead to the third storey. In this storey, Mario will find lines of Wallops. In the end, another Thwomp is found, along with a door. Mario can use this door to reach the tower, which contains a grassy area, and a little pool of water with coins in it where Mario will reach the Flagpole.

Star Medals

  • Star Medal 1: In the right side of the tower, Mario will find a Brick Block covering a hole in the tower's wall. He must break this with a somersault. Crossing the hole, there is a small room with a Star Medal.
  • Star Medal 2: The plumber must enter in the Cannon. Then, he must be launched to the right corner of the tower, where is a moving platform with the second Star Medal.
  • Star Medal 3: Mario must go to the top of the last Thwomp, and then Wall Jump on the right wall to collect the Star Medal.

Mario will start in front of a lake, and he must dive in the water. Underwater, Mario will find a Cheep-Cheep swimming around a Warp Pipe, which will lead him back to the surface. Mario will find a P-Switch here, which will form a trail of coins leading to the bottom of the water. Here, he'll find a Fire Flower, some Crates, a Cheep Cheep, and a Timer above the water. Progressing through the lake, Mario will find several Yellow Rings that gives him five coins, along with a ? Block, some Brick Blocks, and a Red Ring right above a pit. He'll also find three Cheep-Cheeps patrolling an area. After this, Mario will be able to jump out of the water, following the path to a Checkpoint Flag, and then diving again. Here, Mario can press a P-Switch to cause several Yellow Rings to appear. He'll also have to dodge Porcu-Puffers swimming between small fences. Not only Porcu-Puffers will try to harm Mario here, but a Spike Eel will also give a challenge to the plumber. Right after the eel, Mario will find a Pipe, leading to the Flagpole.

Star Medals

  • Star Medal 1: At the end of the first underwater section of the level after entering the first pipe, there will be a cave, which leads behind the area with the Star Medal.
  • Star Medal 2: Near the end of the level, there will be a Spike Eel, with a hole in the ground near it. By going down the hole, there will be a warp pipe, which will take the player to an area filled with coins, blocks, and the Star Medal.
  • Star Medal 3: Towards the end of the level, there is a Spike Eel that will be swimming upward after the pipe. By swimming in that direction, the player will be taken to a hidden area with another pipe and the Star Medal.

World 3-3

Layout

The level begins with Mario standing on a platform. Past that is a section composed of Donut Lifts leading to the next area; a Stingby can be found here. Going farther reveals several more Donut Lifts, with another platform dividing them, and another Stinby. The next platform is one large platform with a Chain Chomp on it. Afterward, there is another, lengthy Donut Lift bridge, with a Star on it. Next is a ledge with a Red Ring on it, followed by another set of platforms with a Checkpoint Flag in the center. A large set of Donut Lifts follows this, leading to another large platform with a Chain Chomp at its center, and a set of Binoculars nearby. By climbing up the platforms, the player will have to jump across some Donut Lift bridges to reach a Warp Box, which takes Mario to a platform of Donut Lifts. This leads to a staircase of aforementioned blocks, which, in turn, will take the player to the flagpole.

Star Medals

  • Star Medal 1: By using the Question Block at the beginning as a ledge, the player can get to the top of the platforms. Beyond this is a switch that Tanooki Mario can swing his tail on, causing the platform to elevate to a Warp Pipe. Going down the pipe will show the player two ledges composed of Brick Blocks. On top of these is the Star Medal.
  • Star Medal 2: After the Checkpoint Flag, by taking the set of singular Donut Lifts, there is an area in which Mario can wall jump to get some clocks. Beyond this is a pair of Donut Lifts, on top of which is the Star Medal.
  • Star Medal 3: Using the Binocular to spot a Toad on a nearby platform will cause him to drop the Star Medal over a bridge of Donut Blocks.

World 3-4

Layout

Tanooki Mario in the snowy level.

Mario will start on an area composed of several snow-covered platforms, divided by tightropes. Upon one of these tightropes is a Fuzzy. There are two tightropes after the next platform, one containing a Fuzzy and the other having a Ball n' Chain over it. Using the orange trampoline block on the top of the next platform will take the player to a Warp Box leading to a ledge above the beginning area. Crossing the tightrope here leads to an area with the Checkpoint flag on it. Two more tightropes are after this, both with Fuzzies on them. Past this is another area with two Goombas and another Warp Box. The next area requires the player to climb three tightropes, followed by another ledge with two tightropes and Fuzzies. The next tightropes after this contain Ball n' Chains hanging above them. Following this is another tightrope, leading to a platform with a third Warp Box, which will take the player to the end.

Star Medals

  • Star Medal 1: Beyond the first tightrope is a tree. By using the orange trampoline block at the base of the tree, the player can reach a tightrope. There is a Question Block and two Brick Blocks; using them as a platform will take the player to another tightrope, over which is another Brick Block and two blocks that elevate when Mario hits them. These can be used to reach the Star Medal above.
  • Star Medal 2: By using a block which can be moved by hitting it, the player can reach a rainbow Jump Block leading to Coin Heaven. The Star Medal will be at the end of this area.
  • Star Medal 3: By riding atop a Flying Question Block near the end of the level, the player can reach a secret Warp Box, beneath which is the Star Medal.

World 3-5

Layout

Mario jumping in a cookie elevator.

This level can be accessed by collecting 15 Star Medals. The level is made almost completely of cookies, chocolate, cakes and takes place in the sky. The first area contains a cake bridge with cookie rails. Soon, Mario must step in some moving biscuits and stationary Yoshi Cookies with some Para-Biddybuds. Ahead, there are pink topping slices of cake, Donut Lifts and more Para-Biddybubs. A big checkered topping orange tart that guards a Warp Box that teleports Mario to another tart platform, now with a slow auto-scrolling. In the next area, varied biscuits are used as platforms and near quick moving white chocolate platforms with many Para-Biddybuds must be crossed. Then, another Warp Box leads the plumber to an area with two moving biscuits and the stage's Goal Pole.

Star Medals

  • Star Medal 1: A little before the pink topping platforms appear, Mario can grab the medal by simply jumping off the moving biscuit.
  • Star Medal 2: On the last Donut Lift of the level, Mario must wait for the platform to fall to be able to collect the second Star Medal.
  • Star Medal 3: Above the chocolate platforms near the end of the level, there is a Star Medal that can easily be collected.

World 3-Airship

Layout

Mario attempting to avoid the Spiked Pillars.

The level begins as a series of platforms, with a Spiked Pillar later on. There is a Bob-omb in this area. Donut Blocks divide the platforms leading away from the area with the Spiked Pillar. Afterward is another platform with a Spiked Pillar at the end of it, followed by two areas with crates and Spiked Ball launchers. Next is a large platform with a Checkpoint flag and a pair of Binoculars. The next area is filled with crates and two Bob-ombs. By climbing the Donut Block staircase, Mario reaches another platform with a Spiked Pillar at the end. Another two Donut Blocks and a platform divide this area from the next, a large platform with several Spiked Pillars on one side; however, two safe spots have been designated. The rest of the platform before the pipe is made of Donut Blocks. The fight with Boom Boom takes place on two moving platforms, one going right and the other heading left. The flagpole will be on an airship that can be reached after Boom Boom is defeated.

Star Medals

  • Star Medal 1: Right beside the first Spiked Pillar is a platform with the Star Medal hovering over it.
  • Star Medal 2: Beneath the second safe spot on the platform with several Spiked Pillars is another platform. By heading right, the player can see a Donut Block with the Star Medal hovering over it.
  • Star Medal 3: After defeating Boom Boom, the Star Medal will be at the very front of the airship.
