Frappe Snowland is a race track, first appearing in the Flower Cup of Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo 64, then returning as a course in the Retro Courses in Mario Kart DS. Its obstacles include many Snowmansnowmen scattered around the edges of the course. There is also a giant snow statue of Mario, and one of Yoshi. Oddly enough, in the DS version there is a giant statue of Mario instead of Yoshi.
Frappe Snowland (named Frappesuno Land on one occasion) is the second race course of the Flower Cup in Mario Kart 64. It takes place in a softly snowing region of hills. Its obstacles include many snowmen scattered around the edges of the course. There is also a giant snow statue of Mario and one of Yoshi. The course shares its music with Sherbet Land; both are uniquely given blue-tinted minimaps to distinguish from the white scenery.

Setting
Frappe Snowland reappears in Mario Kart DS as the second course of the Banana Cup, and in Mario Kart Tour starting with the Ice Tour.
Frappe Snowland takes place in a softly snowing region of hills.  The time is speculated to be during the early night or during heavy cloud cover.  Snow can be seen falling from the sky slowly in both the Nintendo 64 and Nintendo DS versions.

Track Layout
Mario Kart 64
Players start in a snowy road, which immediately makes a ninety degree turn to the right, and then a turn to the left, which then leads players to a row of Item Boxes. Snowmen appear as obstacles in this point that slow players down if run into. Players then pass a Yoshi statue and then make a U-turn to the left, which leads players into a ramp. Failure to cross the ramp leads players into a river of water.
Course layout
The course begins with a right turn followed by a left turn and the first set of Item Boxes. Racers then take a slight right turn followed by a U-turn to the left; next to the slight right turn is a large Yoshi statue. Afterwards there is a right turn followed by a left turn and a brief straight. Along the straight is a jump over a river followed by another item set. There is then a left turn into a wide area with many snowmen and a large Mario statue. The track narrows after and racers take a left turn followed by a right turn and another left turn. The snow on both sides of the track then becomes elevated by tall cliffs as the track remains flat, cutting through the cliffs at a result; if racers try to drive up the cliffs, Lakitu brings them back to the track.  Here there is one last item set followed by a brief straight, another left U-turn, and a right turn. Racers then use a short wooden bridge to cross the river again and reach the finish line soon after.

After the ramp, the road stretches and a large group of snowmen, plus a Mario statue reside there. This makes it a little bit tricky to navigate through without slowing down or getting hit by a snowman. After the large group of snowmen, players make a sharp left turn, then a right while avoiding two more snowmen. When players pass the snowmen, they proceed to a straight road, with cliff walls instead of snow to slow them down. If players try to drive up the cliff, they stop when they get far enough, and Lakitu takes them to a point.
While most of the course's snowmen obstacles appear near the Mario statue, some can be found in other areas on or next to the track.

In the cliff area, a bunch of item boxes can be found; they are the last ones before the finish line. Past the item boxes is a U-turn to the left, which leads into a curvier road. The curvier road then makes a right turn, and past the wooden bridge is the finish line where the track repeats itself.
Glitches
The player, as soon as they start the race, must turn back and go to the bridge. There, the player must turn facing the goal. The player must head to the snowy area from the bridge without touching the path that leads to the goal and move until Lakitu picks them up. If done well, Lakitu will position the player on the bridge and, when going to the finish line, it will count as one lap.

Frappe Snowland reappears in Mario Kart Tour, starting with the Ice Tour. It is based on the Mario Kart DS course layout. The Mario and Yoshi snowmen now look more lifelike and a glide ramp shortcut was added behind the glaciers, a wooden bridge is added after the jump before the snowman section, and the starting banner has been changed to a wooden sign with a blue, three-dimensional Mario Kart logo. Another shortcut has also been added after the Yoshi snowmen, which features several log ramps.

The course also appears as Frappe Snowland R (reversed), Frappe Snowland T (with ramps), and Frappe Snowland R/T (reversed with ramps). The former two debuted alongside the original in the Ice Tour, while the latter debuted in the Vancouver Tour. In the R variant, all snowmen appear in pairs side-by-side.

*The music in this course is also plays in Sherbet Land.
*The giant snow walls in this stage seem to be based off of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in the Toyama Prefecture of Japan, due to excess snowfall requiring the walls to be made so the highways can be used.

Frappe Snowland (named Frappesuno Land on one occasion[1]) is the second race course of the Flower Cup in Mario Kart 64.

Frappe Snowland reappears in Mario Kart DS as the second course of the Banana Cup, and in Mario Kart Tour starting with the Ice Tour.

Mario Kart 64[edit]

Course layout[edit]

While most of the course's snowmen obstacles appear near the Mario statue, some can be found in other areas on or next to the track.

Glitches[edit]

The player, as soon as they start the race, must turn back and go to the bridge. There, the player must turn facing the goal. The player must head to the snowy area from the bridge without touching the path that leads to the goal and move until Lakitu picks them up. If done well, Lakitu will position the player on the bridge and, when going to the finish line, it will count as one lap.[2]

Mario Kart DS[edit]

Frappe Snowland makes its classic course debut in Mario Kart DS as the second course of the Banana Cup, and it remains mostly unchanged from its original variant, though most of the turns were slightly reshaped. Frappe Snowland was one of the many courses that were available to play over Wi-Fi.

The ghost data for this course in Time Trials is 2:08:781, and uses Wario in the Brute.

Missions[edit]

There is one mission that takes place on Frappe Snowland:

  • Mission 5-2: The player controls Donkey Kong, who must collect 15 coins surrounding the Mario statue within 30 seconds while driving in reverse. During this mission, there are many additional snowmen surrounding where the player must drive and avoid.

Mario Kart Tour[edit]

Profiles[edit]

Mario Kart 64[edit]

  • Instruction booklet description:
    • English:
A frigid course under constant snowfall. Naturally, the road is slippery. The snowmen you see might look cute, but run into one and you will crash. Don't get too close![page number needed]

  • Website description:
    • English (American):
Look out for snowmen on the course in this icy track."[6]

Mario Kart DS[edit]

  • Instruction booklet description:
    • English:
This popular Mario Kart 64 track returns with its snow-covered road. The snowmen that block the path will knock you over if you hit them.[7]
  • Instruction booklet / American website bio:

  • Website description:
    • English (American):
This popular Mario Kart 64 track returns with its snow-covered road. The snowmen that block the path will knock you over if you hit them.
    • English (British):
You'd better make sure you've had your triple-shot mocha-choca frappe-latte before you start this race, as you'll need something to ward off the cold and and keep your senses sharp. Also, look out for the pesky snowman and Mario's ice sculpture (he's such a show-off).

Mario Kart Tour[edit]

  • Mario Kart Tour Twitter: "Mario Kart 64 fans might feel warm with nostalgia when they see the Frappe Snowland course in #MarioKartTour. This classic course is complete with slick roads, sheer cliffs, and some familiar faces made of snow! Are you ready to race in this winter wonderland?"[8]
