In the second and third phases of the Whomp King battle, the Whomp Kong stomps a foot to make three (five in the third battle phase) Whimps break off from the ground. Whimps[1] are miniature Whomps that appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2, serving a similar role to them as Thwimps do to Thwomps. Unlike normal Whomps, they have only one tooth; their faces are also flatter, their bodies are less rectangular, and they have square, arm-less hands. They appear only in the Throwback Galaxy mission Return of the Whomp King, where they help the Whomp King in his battle against the player.
