First appearance | Mario & Luigi: Brothership (2024) |
Bulbfish are a species of glowing, bright orange fish raised on Bulbfish Island in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. They can be seen swimming in a pen by the island's pier. They emit electrical energy from their bodies, so they are used as a power source to power the island's electrical appliances, such as their streetlamps. When Mario and Luigi first arrive on Bulbfish Island, they are called upon to investigate the theft of some Bulbfish eggs. They ultimately discover that Leyden's assistant is responsible. He had stolen the eggs as part of a plot to replace Leyden as chief. After cornering him near the lighthouse, he threatens to throw the eggs into the sea until Leyden stops him.
