Mimics that resemble treasure chests are an enemy archetype typically seen in role-playing games.
History[edit]
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[edit]
In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and its Nintendo Switch remake, Huhwhat, Whuhoh, Pleaseno, and Comeon are enemies that act like mimics. They resemble treasure boxes in the overworld and start a battle when Mario opens them with a jump.
Mario Hoops 3-on-3[edit]
Mimics are items in Bloocheep Sea, a court in Mario Hoops 3-on-3. A Mimic tries to chomp whoever has the ball by chasing them around the course, though Mimics sometimes spit out many Coins and 10 Coins upon being used.
Wario: Master of Disguise[edit]
- Main article: Treasure Pest
Mimics appear in Wario: Master of Disguise, localized as Treasure Pests. They replace a single treasure chest in a level whenever the level is entered, preventing the chest's content from being obtained unless the level is replayed.
Fortune Street[edit]
Mimics from the Dragon Quest series are obstacles of the Slurpodrome minigame in Fortune Street. Mimics can take the place of a regular treasure chest, knocking any Slime out of the race if encountered. A Mimic also appears on the right side of Castle Trodain.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
- SmashWiki article: Mimic
Mimics are stage features in Yggdrasil's Altar in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. They disguise themselves as the normal treasure chests on the floating platforms. Mimics reveal themselves when attacked and lunge in front of them, inflicting lots of damage, then wander about on the platform to attack any fighters within range. A Mimic can be defeated after enough hits, dropping an item behind afterwards.
