Giant cannons[1] appear in the Super Mario franchise as objects that shoot giant cannonballs. These mega-sized cannons appear in Super Mario Bros. 3, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and New Super Mario Bros. U, where they are large horizontal cannons that resemble dark pipes, though in Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker 2, giant cannons have been redesigned and are capable of facing in eight directions. Additionally, in Super Mario Maker and its sequel, giant cannons do not shoot out giant cannonballs at a faster speed than their regular-sized counterparts; this functionality has been moved to red cannons, which can be regular or giant-sized.
