Cast Aways is a 4-Player coin-collecting minigame that is found in Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars. Its name is a pun on "castaways," which is a term used to describe people stuck on a deserted island by themselves.
Cast Aways is a 4-Player coin-collecting minigame in Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars.

The Mario Party version of this minigame, along with Paddle Battle, Pedal Power, Tug o' War, and to some extent Deep Sea Divers, was infamous for giving players injuries on their hands, forcing Nintendo to give protective gloves to players who suffered these injuries. In Mario Party Superstars, due to the game utilizing control sticks again, a disclaimer is placed on the rules screen, warning players not to use their palms to turn the stick to avoid hand injury and stick damage.
Overview
The minigame opens with four players on an island, watching as three rows of items float by on the ocean.

Introduction
Every player has an extendable glove used for fishing, and they try to collect as many items within 60 seconds as possible, or at least 30 coins on Mini-Game Island in the original Mario Party. Individual coins, coin bags (worth five coins), and treasure chests (worth 10 coins) float by in the ocean. Players can cast their glove to either a short, medium, or long distance, each reaching a different row and reel back, even if they did not get an item. Players only acquire Coins by reeling them at them directly, so if time runs out while a player is reeling an item, they do not obtain it.
The minigame takes place where four players are standing on an island, staring at the ocean, seeing three rows of items floating by. The minigame then starts.

Gameplay
Cast Aways does not end with winning and losing players, like other Coin minigames, and all players get to keep the Coins they have obtained.
The players' objective is to use their gloves to gather coins within 60 seconds. There are three rows of items floating by, with single coins, coin bags that are worth five coins, and treasure chests worth 10 coins. The players have to obtain the floating items by casting their gloves a short, medium, or long distance. When the player makes a cast, they have to reel the glove back whether they captured an item successfully or not. However, if the player fails to reel the item back to them before the time runs out, they will not be awarded the captured item. The minigame ends when the time limit is up, but there is no winner or loser. All players who participate get to keep the number of coins they collected in the minigame.

In Mini-Game Island, the player has to get at least 30 coins to clear the minigame.
Cast Aways costs 250 coins to buy at the Mini-Game House.

The minigame can be purchased from the Mini-Game House for 250 coins.
The minigame title is a play on "castaways," which refers to people who are stuck on a deserted island alone.

Mario Party Superstars:

Cast Aways is a 4-Player coin-collecting minigame in Mario Party and Mario Party Superstars.

Overview[edit]

The minigame opens with four players on an island, watching as three rows of items float by on the ocean.

Cast Aways does not end with winning and losing players, like other Coin minigames, and all players get to keep the Coins they have obtained.

Cast Aways costs 250 coins to buy at the Mini-Game House.

The minigame title is a play on "castaways," which refers to people who are stuck on a deserted island alone.
