Hat Trampolines[1][2] are objects that appear in Super Mario Odyssey. They are red flowers that are usually closed; however, when Cappy, a Bullet Bill, or a thrown seed collides with one, or when Mario ground-pounds on one, it temporarily opens. When Mario touches it in this state, it launches him into the air, making him perform a Spin Jump where he spins slowly but also floats down slower, similarly to how he performs a Spin Jump after jumping on a Spindrift in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The Hat Trampoline closes back up after a short time, but additional attacks and bounces keep it open for longer. Some Hat Trampolines, primarily those seen in bonus areas, are permanently open at all times. Additionally, the underside of Rango's hat functions identically to a Hat Trampoline and has a similar design. The Rango Hat that Mario can purchase from a Crazy Cap store has the same pattern, but that hat's flower has no additional effects compared to Cappy.

Hat Trampolines can bounce captured characters upward as well, although none of them can spin-jump. The height of the bounce can vary. For example, Goombas get boosted higher than Cheep Cheeps. The opening of a Hat Trampoline can defeat Mini Goombas, as seen in the Lake Kingdom. Bulkier enemies like Goombas are not affected.
