In it, after emerging from [[Donkey Kong Island]]'s volcano, he goes to hypnotize the island's animals to steal bananas alongside the other commanders; he is shown hypnotizing an elephant specifically. Krazy Kalimba then stops [[Donkey Kong]] just as he exits his [[DK's Tree House|treehouse]], pushing him back inside and trying to hypnotize him. This fails, and a second attempt fares no better. This cutscene flows directly into the first level of the game, [[Jungle Hijinxs (Donkey Kong Country Returns)|Jungle Hijinxs]], This sequence tasks the player with shaking their controller or mashing certain buttons (both of which are the inputs of the [[Roll Attack|Barrel Roll]]) to attack Kalimba. [[Diddy Kong]] joins Donkey Kong in the multiplayer mode. It ends with Donkey Kong punching Kalimba through the door and into the trees.

Krazy Kalimba[1][2], also referred to as Kalimba[3][4][5] and Kalimba Tiki[6], is a high-ranking member of the Tiki Tak Tribe. His name comes from "kalimba", a type of mbira, an African instrument and the basis of his design. Half his body is painted cyan while the other half is painted red, and he wears a rope headband.

Krazy Kalimba is the only one of the seven hypnotizing Tiki Tak Tribe members with a known gender.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country Returns (3D / HD)[edit]

Krazy Kalimba first appears in the opening cutscene of Donkey Kong Country Returns and its 3D and HD ports. In it, after emerging from Donkey Kong Island's volcano, he goes to hypnotize the island's animals to steal bananas alongside the other commanders; he is shown hypnotizing an elephant specifically. Krazy Kalimba then stops Donkey Kong just as he exits his treehouse, pushing him back inside and trying to hypnotize him. This fails, and a second attempt fares no better. This cutscene flows directly into the first level of the game, Jungle Hijinxs, This sequence tasks the player with shaking their controller or mashing certain buttons (both of which are the inputs of the Barrel Roll) to attack Kalimba. Diddy Kong joins Donkey Kong in the multiplayer mode. It ends with Donkey Kong punching Kalimba through the door and into the trees.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon / Luigi's Mansion 2 HD[edit]

In Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and its Nintendo Switch port, Strong Greenies wielding spears with a tiki mask resembling Kalimba on them appear in the Jungle Exhibit in Treacherous Mansion. Regular Greenies can also appear with them in the ScareScraper.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Krazy Kalimba appears as a trophy.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Krazy Kalimba is part of the Tiki Tak Tribe spirit, which includes all of the members who hypnotize bosses in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
