"Game Start A"[1] is a musical theme from the arcade version of Mario Bros. that plays when starting a new game. It is a brief arrangement of Eine kleine Nachtmusik, originally composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1787.

Mario Bros. (NES)[edit]
The NES version of Mario Bros. features an arrangement of "Game Start A" that uses noticeably different chiptune instrumentation compared to the arcade original that plays when starting a new game.
This arrangement is reused for the same purpose in the Nintendo PlayChoice-10 version of Mario Bros., as well as Mario Bros. Returns, Mario Bros.-e, and Famicom Mini: Mario Bros.
This arrangement returns alongside the Game Boy Advance Mario Bros. remake in Super Mario Advance; its sequels Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, and Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3; and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. It is one of the only Mario Bros. themes to not receive a new 16-bit arrangement in these games.
This arrangement also returns in Super Mario 3D World and its Nintendo Switch port Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, where it can be heard when starting a new game in Luigi Bros., the Luigi-themed remake of the NES version of Mario Bros. included to commemorate The Year of Luigi.

Mario Bros. Special features a faster arrangement of "Game Start A" that uses harsher chiptune instrumentation. Like in Mario Bros. the arrangement can be heard when starting a new game.

In Mario Power Tennis and its Wii port New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis, a chiptune and steel drum arrangement of "Game Start A" by Motoi Sakuraba plays during the intro of the Mario Classic Court, which is heavily based on Mario Bros.
Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix[edit]
Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix features an arrangement of "Game Start A" as a playable song titled "Underground Mozart". It includes chiptune samples of the theme and sound effects from the NES version of Mario Bros., as well as a violin arrangement with rock backing instrumentation of Eine kleine Nachtmusik by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which "Game Start A" is based on.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]
Super Smash Bros. Brawl features an arranged medley of "Game Start" and "Title BGM" by Shogo Sakai titled "Mario Bros." The arrangement is primarily played on the electronic keyboard, but it also includes chiptune samples and rock-inspired backing instrumentation, as well as a brief symphonic bridge, which is likely a reference to the theme's origin as a piece of classical music, Eine kleine Nachtmusik by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It can be played on the Mario Bros. stage. Interestingly, the arrangement is classified as a Nintendo-series track rather than a Super Mario-series track.
The arrangement returns in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, where it can be played on the 75m and Super Mario Maker stages, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where it can be played on any Super Smash Bros.-series and Super Mario-series stage. Unlike Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the arrangement is classified as a Super Mario-series track in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
