Astro-Lanceurs[1] are enemies in Super Mario Odyssey. Only six ever appear, only within the Moon Kingdom and one of its bonus areas. They resemble Mollusque-Lanceur, a boss fought in the Seaside Kingdom. These enemies are large, flying, silver octopus-like creatures with blue eyes and six arms. Spikes protrude from each arm; though their heads are also harmful. They wear a glass helmet with a black colored opening on the front that appears to be some kind of mouth, though it also serves as a cannon. They are always seen floating.

Astro-Lanceurs move slowly, and their direction ignores Mario. It is set depending on location. Ones on the Moon Kingdom's main map always move in a counterclockwise circle, but the others can move in a circle, back and forth in a very shallow arc, or not move at all. When they see Mario, they try to stare at him to aim. However, they cannot look at especially high or low angles, and therefore their aim is imperfect. Occasionally, they spit red cone shell projectiles to attack, regardless of if Mario is actually in the sight line. These shells fly directly forward, but slowly, explode on impact. If they fly out into the distance, they vanish without an animation.

This shatters the helmet and squishes the Astro-Lanceur. Once defeated, they leave behind eight coins. They do not respawn after being defeated, nor necessarily after reloading the given area. The player has to reload the Moon Kingdom, either by leaving and returning or loading the save file.
