Dennis Lee Hopper (May 17, 1936 – May 29, 2010) was an American actor and filmmaker who portrayed President Koopa in the live-action 1993 Super Mario Bros. film. He had spoken unfavorably of the film after its release. Since his immortalized role as Frank Booth in the Oscar-nominated Blue Velvet, he made a steady career of playing villains in films such as Speed, Waterworld and the aforementioned Super Mario Bros. film.
