Exploring Shy Guys on GBA Sunset Wilds

Exploring Shy Guys are large Shy Guys with prospector equipment that act as obstacles on GBA Sunset Wilds and its variants in Mario Kart Tour. Four are encountered in a camping area near the finish line on each of the course's variants, replacing the Shy Guys found in the Mario Kart: Super Circuit rendition of Sunset Wilds. Instead of clinging to a driver and slowing them down, Exploring Shy Guys skip back and forth across the track, causing drivers that come into contact with them to spin out. They can be taken out with any offensive item. Exploring Shy Guys can also be seen in an area in the background.

Two playable Shy Guy variants, both introduced in the 2023 Exploration Tour, have the same design as the light blue and yellow Exploring Shy Guys.

The Exploring Shy Guys return in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the Booster Course Pass with GBA Sunset Wilds. They function nearly the same as they do in Mario Kart Tour, with the only difference being that they now drop 3 coins if they are taken out with an item.
