The City Tripper is a standard bike body that is included in the Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 downloadable content pack for Mario Kart 8. It is a scooter that resembles a classic Vespa and also looks similar to the Sugarscoot from Mario Kart Wii. The character's emblem is found on the front left of the bike, as well as on a small zipper on the rear of the vehicle that moves.

History

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

The City Tripper is the signature bike for both Isabelle and female Villager. It offers a small acceleration boost and a large handling boost at the cost of weight and traction. It shares its stats with Pipe Frame, Wild Wiggler, Standard Bike, W 25 Silver Arrow, Varmint, and Flame Rider. It has a four stroke engine with its own unique sound.

A CPU female Villager and Isabelle will use the bike on occasion with the Leaf Tires and the Paper Glider.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it is available from the start. A CPU-controlled female Villager and Isabelle use this body paired with the Paper Glider, but will also use the Slim tires at times instead; a CPU-controlled male Villager will also use the City Tripper with the Slim tires and the Paper Glider as well. Additionally, the City Tripper's stats have been altered so that it now hinders speed, but gives a higher boost in acceleration and now slightly boosts traction. In terms of its hidden stats, it no longer increases water speed and now hinders air speed and air handling, while hindering anti-gravity speed further, with no compensation. It now only shares its stats with the Pipe Frame and the Varmint.

Color schemes

The City Tripper has twelve color schemes, one for each Mii color. It is also one of the two DLC vehicles that change colors, the other one being the GLA. The Purple and White color schemes are the only ones that cannot be used with any amiibo Mii racing suit in both versions of Mario Kart 8.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The City Tripper’s lime color scheme appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as an Ace-class support spirit. It requires one support slot to use. It raises the user's attack power and movement speed during a battle, so long as they have 0% damage. The spirit can only be obtained from Funky Kong's Shack, where it costs 4000 Spirit Points at regular price.

The core extracted from this spirit can be combined with a Mach Rider, Excitebike and a red-type core to summon the Master Cycle spirit.

Other appearances

The City Tripper is a furniture item in the Animal Crossing: New Leaf update "Welcome amiibo" and is called the Isabelle Scooter. It can be purchased from Isabelle's RV at the Campground. The City Tripper is also an item in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
