Véronique Chantel was a former Nintendo of Europe employee. She was the first French localizer for Nintendo, having worked on French localizations from 1992 to 1995, including Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. In 1995, she was fired from Nintendo due to inappropriate behavior during a business trip to Japan with German localizer Claude Moyse.[1]

In 2012, she died of cancer.[2]
