The title of this article is official, but it comes from a non-English source. If an acceptable English source is found, then the article should be moved to its appropriate title.
Template:Species-infobox Pattan are miniature Whomps that appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2, serving a similar role to them as Thwimps do to Thwomps. Unlike normal Whomps, they only have one tooth; their faces are also flatter, their bodies are less rectangular, and they have square, arm-less hands. They only appear in the Throwback Galaxy mission Return of the Whomp King, where they help the Whomp King in his battle against the player.
Description
In the second and third phases of the Whomp King battle, the king will stomp a foot to make three (five in the third battle phase) Pattan break off from the ground. After that, the Pattan will instantly start chasing after the player. Once they get close enough, they jump and land flat on their faces, attempting to crush Mario or Luigi.
Pattan are more fragile and less damaging than regular Whomps, only taking a point of the player's health if they land on Mario or Luigi. They also disintegrate as soon as they attack, regardless of if they hit. The player can knock back a Pattan by doing a spin, or defeat it by performing a jump or Ground Pound. All Pattan disappear when the Whomp King tries to crush the player.
