- This article is about the enemy from the Donkey Kong Country series. For the treasure chest enemy originating from the Dragon Quest series, see Mimic (treasure chest).
Mimics[1][2] are enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They only appear in silhouette levels, and appear to be bushes with glowing yellow eyes and two short legs.
At first, Mimics blend in with the scenery due to their bush appearance. When the Kongs approach a Mimic, it hops up and chases them. Like most enemies, if the Kongs come in contact with a Mimic, they lose a heart point. The Kongs can defeat a Mimic from either a jump or a roll attack. If Donkey Kong Hand Slaps with a Mimic on the screen, leaves will shake off from the bush; regular bushes do not do this. The Mimics leaves also move around slightly while regular bushes have no animation.
In Donkey Kong Country Returns, Mimics only appear in one level, Sunset Shore. In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, they only appear in one level, Busted Bayou, along with their larger counterpart, Large Mimics.
