Paragoomba

Paragoombas, also known as Winged Goombas, are a type of Goomba who possess small wings protruding from either their heads or torso. Like Koopa Paratroopas, Paragoombas will usually shed their wings and change into regular Goombas upon being stomped on the head.

Appearances

The first appearance of Paragoombas was in Super Mario Bros. 3, in which they appeared as somewhat uncommon enemies; in Super Mario Bros. 3, Paragoombas would attack by either jumping at Mario or Luigi or by flying around in the sky, dropping Micro-Goombas.

In Super Mario World, Paragoombas, instead of being Goombas with wings, were portrayed as being Goombas who utilized parachutes; Goombas with wings do appear in Super Mario World as somewhat common enemies, though these winged Goombas were round and could only hop on the ground instead of fly fully, they were also named as Winged Goombas.

In Yoshi's Safari, Paragoombas appear quite frequently as common enemies, who will attack Mario and Yoshi by charging into them, doing minimal damage. A Paragoomba in Yoshi's Safari could easily be defeated by simply shooting it with Mario's Super Scope once.

Though absent from a game for some time, Paragoombas made a reappearance in Paper Mario as enemies encountered early in the game in Goomba Road; in Paper Mario, Goombas would attack by swooping downward and could also only be damaged by being jumped on or by having an item used against them.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Paragoombas appear as enemies in several locations, such as Rogueport Sewers, Petal Meadows and Hooktail Castle. Like in Paper Mario, the Paragoombas of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are immune to attacks involving the use of a hammer, capable of only being harmed by a jump attack, item or Crystal Star attack.

Paragoombas also appear as weak enemies in Super Princess Peach, which also introduced Paragoombas that have been altered by the Vibe Scepter], becoming Sad Paragoombas and Mad Paragoombas.

A Paragoomba became playable for the first time in Mario Superstar Baseball, which features a Goomba as a member of Donkey Kong's team. Paragoombas have also appeared frequently in the Mario Party series, with some games featuring them as the host of Duel Mode.

In New Super Mario Bros., Paragoombas, using an attack method similar to the Winged Goombas of Super Mario World, appear as enemy creaturesthroughout the game, capable of being easily defeated.

In Super Paper Mario, Paragoombas appear as basic enemies in Lineland, Gloam Swamp and The Bitlands and can easily be defeated by any type of attack, such as being jumped on or by being attacked by a Pixl.

Cartoons

Paragoombas appeared in many episodes of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, such as "True Colors" and "Super Koopa", which featured them as underlings of King Bowser Koopa and the Koopalings.

In Super Mario World, Paragoombas only appeared once, in the show's series premier, "Fire Sale", where several Paragoombas appeared to attack Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Yoshi; this swarm of Paragoombas were eventually defeated by Mario, who knocked them away after jumping through the air.

Comics

In Super Mario Adventures, a Winged Goomba makes a relatively minor appearance, being seen amoung the creatures sent by Bowser to attack Princess Toadstool's Castle.
