The Legend of Zelda is one of 9-Volt's microgames found in the Nintendo Classics folder in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! and one of 5-Volt's microgames found in the Nintendo Classics level of the Mash League in WarioWare Gold. The former is based on the Nintendo Entertainment System game of the same name while the latter is based on the original Family Computer Disk System version.

Gameplay[edit]

The player, controlling Link, must move to the entrance of the cave. Link can move in any cardinal direction, but cannot move through walls and over the water of the lake. Once Link reaches the entrance, the game is complete. While there is an animation for descending into the cave, it is not required. The position of the cave is selected randomly, independent of the level.

Levels 2 and 3 add enemies. Link bounces away from enemies and attacks that hit him, making it harder to reach the cave in time. While Link loses half a heart each time he is hit, he has six hearts. It is impossible to lose all of them before time runs out, even if the player tries to get caught between an enemy and a wall.

  • Level 1: No distinguishing qualities
  • Level 2: A flying Peahat is an enemy. It flies in a circle.
  • Level 3: In addition to the Peahat, a Zora in the lake will shoot energy balls at Link. It has time to shoot twice before time runs out.

In WarioWare Gold, there are some changes. The map has a second variation, also selected at random along with the position of the cave. This variation has include a river instead of a lake, and a bridge to cross said river. The Peahat may be blue instead of orange, in which case it moves back and forth and bounces off walls. The Zora can appear in the river, but no matter which map is loaded it is only allowed to shoot once before time runs out.
