Donkey Kong Country Returns is one of the microgames in 9-Volt's Nintendo Classics level in WarioWare: Get It Together! It is based on the Wii game of the same name.
Gameplay[edit]
The player has to defeat all of the enemies on-screen using the character's move or by landing on the enemy from above. The player does not lose the microgame if their character comes into contact with an enemy. Each level features different enemies that can appear in two different layouts per difficulty level, and takes place in different levels of the original game, with the corresponding music playing (in Level 2's case, the music that plays outside of the chase segments, "Tree Top Rock Returns"). After clearing the microgame, either Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong appears, depending on which enemy layout is used.
- Level 1: The microgame takes place in Jungle Hijinxs near the Mugly statues. The player has to defeat either one Tiki Goon or one Tiki Buzz flying back and forth.
- Level 2: The microgame takes place in Muncher Marathon. The player has to defeat either a Frogoon and a purple Skittler or a Skittler and a Tiki Goon. Both combinations feature one enemy on each side of the screen.
- Level 3: The microgame takes place at the end of the Golden Temple. The player has to defeat three Tiki Buzzes, which are either flying back and forth or up and down. The character can fall off the stage, resulting in a loss.
If two players are utilized for this microgame, more enemies appear in each level: three in Levels 1 (which can now include Frogoons and Skittlers) and 2, and five Tiki Buzzes in Level 3. Additionally, both Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong appear upon clearing the microgame. If the players win, the player that defeats more enemies receives an effort point or, in the case of Rising Star, a star. Even if one player falls off the platform in Level 3, the players can still win.
Mission[edit]
- Hop, Step, Jump: As Young Cricket, the player must complete Level 3 by jumping on all of the Tiki Buzzes one after the other, without touching the ground.
Suitability[edit]
Good Fit | ||
---|---|---|
Bad Fit |
- Free movement and his Oinker's wide tractor beam allow Orbulon to defeat all enemies quickly.
- Mona has a slight advantage, as she can use her boomerang to attack enemies without putting herself at risk.
- 18-Volt, Mike, and Penny have a slight advantage since they can attack upward and defeat the enemies with their projectiles.
- Dribble & Spitz can fly into the air and defeat the enemies with their projectiles, making them above-average fits.
- As Kat & Ana are constantly jumping, they are able to defeat enemies by simply moving to land on them.
- Ashley can defeat the enemies with her spells while flying in the air, making her an above-average fit.
- 9-Volt is a below-average fit due to his constant movement requiring him to time his attacks on the enemies.
- 5-Volt has a slight disadvantage, especially in level 3, as she must use her teleport ability to hit the Tiki Buzzes, thus requiring planning to prevent her from falling.
- Red has a slight disadvantage since he can only attack downward, and his bombs reset after the last dropped one explodes on impact.
- As his tongue has a diagonal trajectory, Pyoro is a poor fit especially in Level 3, where he may fall off the platform trying to reach the enemies with his tongue.
