A Snippys[1] (alternately pluralized Snippies),[2] originally known as Snaps,[3] are enemies in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its port. These orange crabs can be defeated using any attack method, and they have stronger variants known as Pinchlys.
History[edit]
Donkey Kong Country Returns / Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D[edit]
Snippys appear mostly in levels of the Beach world, in addition to Mast Blast and Tippy Shippy. Snippys move from side to side and can only hurt Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong if they come in contact with them. They also have a tendency to chase the Kongs, changing direction towards them when avoided. Snippys can be defeated with a jump, a roll attack or by throwing a barrel at them.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze[edit]
A Snippys makes a minor appearance on the title screen of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, where it wanders around on the beach. In a piece of concept artwork from the game, a Snippys-looking crab with large pincers is seen mounted on a weapon-like stick carried by an enemy called "Krob, the Konqueror".

- Prima's Official Strategy Guide: These two creatures can often be found near the sea. The yellow Snaps are easily defeated by jumping on top of them. Pinchlys are a bit tougher. You must jump on top of them to get them to raise their claws, then pound the ground to flip them upside down. Now you can jump on their unprotected underside to knock them out.[3]
