Kōichi Yamadera is a Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator and singer that is from Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.[2] He was the Japanese voice actor for Donkey Kong in the Donkey Kong Country television series. During the series' run, Koichi Yamadera and Mika Kanai (the Japanese voice actress of Candy Kong from the same show) were married to each other. He would later serve as the commentator in the Japanese version of Mario Kart Arcade GP 2. He also voices various Pokémon in the Super Smash Bros. series.
In relation to Nintendo media, Yamadera has appeared in every Pokémon movie, as well as Mewtwo in the POKÉMON Detective Pikachu.
