Chance Cube
A Chance Cube is a item that appears in the Wii game, Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are found in numerous levels and one can be found on the surface of Starship Mario and near below his right ear. Chance Cubes are depicted as a cube with pictures of a 1-Up Mushroom, a coin, a Star Bit, and Bowser's face. When stationary, it will just be floating in place. When Mario does a Star Spin on it, the cube will fly back and land in a similar fashion to a die. Whatever picture is face up is what Mario will earn. As the name implies, the object is entirely based on luck and Mario could skip the object if he wants to. If a 1-Up Mushroom is shown, Mario will earn a 1-Up Mushroom. If a coin is depicted, Mario will win 10 coins. If a Star Bit is depicted, Mario will earn a single Star Bit. However, if Bowser's face shows up, Mario will need to battle an enemy, usually a Goomba. There is also a Luma Shop in Starship Mario found in a warp pipe next to the ship's "ear" once certain tasks are complete that allows Mario to feed 30 Star Bits to the Luma to roll a Chance Cube that can give up to five 1-Up Mushrooms at once. Later on there is another one that will allow Mario to roll 5 for 100 coins.
Trivia
- Rolling into one as Rock Mario, along with shooting one with a Star Bit, will also activate it.
- It is not ENTIRELY luck based, as if you smack it into a terrain feature, it will react as you would expect, so it may be possible to get any given shape on a semi-regular basis.
- When activating the first one inside Starship Mario, spinning right as it spawns seems to better the chances of getting 5 1-Ups.
