World 4 is the fourth world in the game Super Mario Bros. Special, located in the Mushroom Kingdom. It consists of a ground level, an underground level, a level set at the heights on mushrooms, and one castle. It introduces Lakitus and their Spinies, Sidesteppers and Icicles, and contains the game's only Lucky Star.

Lucky Star as seen in the Sharp X1 version of Super Mario Bros. Special. World 4-1 The first level, set in the overworld, with open spaces featuring a Lakitu and plenty of Goombas, as well as a hidden Wing and the game's only Lucky Star.
Tsurara and Chokichoki as seen in the Sharp X1 version of Super Mario Bros. Special. World 4-2 A level set in the underground, starting similarly to World 4-2 from the original Super Mario Bros. before introducing Sidesteppers.

  • A glitch can occur on World 4-3 where failure to break a Scale Lift will cause a later platform to not spawn, making a pit impossible to cross.
