The statued variety of Piranha Plants[1] are statues of Venus Fire Traps that appear only inside Mario's castle in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. They routinely charge up horizontal fireball projectiles when approached by Mario. These fireballs can damage him only once they leave the statues' mouths. There are big and small-sized statues, which respectively shoot out big and small fireballs. Both statues can be used as platforms, despite the decorative spikes on the bigger version.
