Template:Character-infobox Colonel Pluck is, together with his Stompybot 3000 the seventh boss in the game Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. He is the boss of the Factory area and is fought in the level Feather Fiend. Colonel Pluck, while inside the Stompybot, is seen stomping on bananas from Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong's Banana Hoard. When mashed-up bananas come in contact with masks, they are transformed into Tikis. Colonel Pluck is doing his job until his hypnosis briefly wears off. Cordian hypnotizes him to continue the work, and eventually to do battle with the apes after they jump onto the assembly line.

General information

Physical description

Colonel Pluck is a white chicken that wears goggles with a black frame. He has a limp, red comb on his head and has quite a long neck and wings for a chicken. He also has four tips at the end of his wing, which has function as finger for him while he is working.

Attacks

In the first phase, Colonel Pluck controls the Stompybot 3000, walking around the stage. The duo must make their way under the Stompybot. Occasionally, it will run across the screen quickly. Sometimes, Colonel Pluck will lift the bot into the air and then perform a ground pound on the ground. When green chains appear at some point, very rarely will Colonel Pluck try to trick the apes by just scratching the floor with his mechanical feet, which Donkey and Diddy can not go under. If Donkey and Diddy fail to damage Pluck, he will roast the Kongs with a flame jet.

During the second phase, the colonel will send in some eggs, where Buckbots and Buckbombs will hatch out. Donkey Kong must rid of these so he has enough room to avoid Colonel Pluck from trying to smash him from above.

Colonel Pluck can be a difficult boss to beat in Mirror Mode, due to his unpredictable behavior during the first phase.

Combat

When hitting the Stompybot 3000 three times, parts of the 3000 will break off, and will resemble a flying vehicle like the Koopa Clown Car. Colonel Pluck, who still is inside the robot, will send in eggs at this point. Donkey Kong must dodge his attacks and stomp on Colonel Pluck three more times. After this, Cordian will release itself from the vehicle's body, and the Stompybot wil over turn on Colonel Pluck. Donkey Kong then sends this Tiki flying off into the distance.

Stomp all night, stomp all day. Colonel Pluck has been hypnotized by the Tiki Tak Tribe to mash bananas with his Stompybot 3000. Looks like they're creating new tribe members with the resulting juice. Hopefully they're peeling those bananas... Nothing worse than leftover peel in a banana smoothie. He stomps stolen bananas into mush with his giant stomping machine. Why does he do it? Because the Tiki Tak Tribe are controlling him - that's why! They're using the banana mush to create new tribe members. Who knew bananas were so magical?

Trivia

  • Colonel Pluck already seems to be hypnotized before the Kongs even met him. This was probably needed so he would, with the Stompybot 3000, stomp the bananas for the Tikis.
  • Colonel Pluck's name might be based on Harland David Sanders, also known as Colonel Sanders, who is famous for being the original founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
