Kaboings[1] are grunt members of the Kremling Krew that appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. They look like Klomps except they have two peg legs, which appear to be fashioned from retractable spyglasses, rather than just one. Because of this, Kaboings bounce to move around. Kaboings act as the successors of the jumping Kritters from Donkey Kong Country, though Re-Koils would later become their successors in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III.

History

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Kaboings are somewhat common enemies, and they first appear in the level Gangplank Galley. Most Kaboings are beige, but some green ones also appear in a few of the later levels. Kaboings have a set pattern of bouncing around the level. Oftentimes, a Kaboing stands on a platform, waiting for Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to be in sight before jumping off. Kaboings exist in beige and green color varieties, with the latter type moving slightly faster and jumping slightly higher than their beige counterpart. In the cast roll, Kaboings are classified as part of the "Kremling Kuthroats".

Level appearances

Donkey Kong Land 2

In Donkey Kong Land 2, Kaboings no longer have color varieties, due to the Game Boy's monochromatic display, and all Kaboings behave identically to beige Kaboings from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Kaboings appear in some more levels than in the previous game.
