Dreadnought Galaxy

Template:Galaxybox Dreadnought Galaxy is a galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. The galaxy is a mechanical and technological battle station. It is where Topmaniac, the leader of the Topmen, is fought again. It reuses several elements from Battlerock Galaxy, such as Cannons, Mines, and other battle operations, as well as music, but is based in and around a massive spaceship known as "The Dreadnought".

The Dreadnought

The Dreadnought is the spaceship that makes up most of the Dreadnought Galaxy. It has cannons and spikes that can damage Mario, causing him to lose one Health Point. At the top of the Dreadnought, there is a pool of water. There are also Springs and Pull Stars littered all over.

The Beam Planet is a planet shaped like an hourglass that is full of electric beams and other electrical hazards that spin around it. At the opposite end is a Launch Star that Mario must get to by jumping on a spring.

The entrance has three Goombeetles and a Warp Pipe. The inside portion is a side-scrolling area with hazards such as Amps, Cannons, and moving walls. At the end is another Warp Pipe. The gravity of this area can be changed with a Gravity Arrows, which are necessary to proceed through the area.

The Tower Planet is a planet consisting of various cylinders that fall when Mario gets to a higher level. On the top parts are a pair of moving walls and a Launch Star.

It is a medium-sized planet with a Bill Blaster and several Goombeetles. There is a vault that when broken, floods the planet, which is nesseccary to complete the level. There are also a lot of platforms with lasers that move across the water and a pair of Robot Turtles that take Mario from platform to platform. Above it is a small cubical planetoid. Some metallic structures are above the water, and one of them has a Power Star.

This area has three parts. In the first part is a screw that moves forward or backwards depending on how much weight it has on it. Beneath it is a green platform with Bob-ombs. The second part has several Flipswitches which Mario must press by avoiding the Chomp Pups that constantly fall from the dog shacks. If he presses them all, Mario can access the third part. In this part are two more screws and two Octopuses that must be killed, causing a Launch Star to appear.

This is a section on the side of the Dreadnought which consists of several platforms of different sizes that travel along a path. There are obstacles such as cannons and electric currents. At the end is a Power Star.

The upper part of this UFO has a Green Topman and the lower part has a Warp Pipe that leads to the Garbage Dump. The Topman is needed to reach a Sling Star above.

This is a planet shaped like half a sphere. It is inhabited by a Gearmo that cleans the garbage. There are also some Bob-ombs that Mario must use to blow up the garbage in order to obtain a Power Star from the Gearmo.

This planet has several cylinder structures sticking out. Mario must knock two Spiky Topmen into an electrical barrier to free a trapped Luma. After being freed, the Luma will transform into a Sling Star that will lead Mario to the Cube Planet.

It is a small planet shaped like a cube. There is a Ground Pound switch that makes five blue Star Chips appear. A Spring Topman is also found here, as well as a Spiky Topman in the "Topman Tribe Speed Run" level. The player must use the Spring Topman to get one of the Star Chips here.

The Artillery Walls are two walls that face each other located in the Dreadnought. The cannons shoot Cannonballs, and there are Pull Stars in the middle. There are also Mines in the way that can be taken out with a Star Bit. Mario has to avoid the cannonballs while traveling by them.

This is a long, zigzagging landing platform with Rocky Wrenches, Treasure Chests and Spiked Sentry Beams that shoot electric waves at Mario. White circles around the Sentry Beams indicate how far out from the center the electric waves can go. Near the end of the platform is a Launch Star. There is also a Koopa Troopa whose shell can be used to break open the treasure chests to collect their contents.

This saucer is similar to the one in Battlerock Galaxy. There are a lot of Spiky Topmen in it, and there are also many electric currents that block Mario's path. At the top is Topmaniac, waiting to be fought.

Levels

Infiltrating the Dreadnought

Mario or Luigi has to explore a couple of planets with lasers before he gets into the Dreadnought. Then he has to go through some sidesrolling areas before reaching a planet with a Bill Blaster. He needs to flood the planet by breaking a cage with a Bullet Bill. This triggers laser platforms which he must jump across for a Power Star.

Dreadnought's Colossal Cannons

Mario will start out on a U-shaped platform with electric borders. Jumping down to the platform below, the player can get some Star Bits and also use a Bob-omb to break a cage with 1-Up Mushroom trapped in it. To get further in the level, Mario must run left on the giant screw until he's close enough to jump to the next platform. Here, the player must avoid Chomps while lighting up all the Flipswitches.

After this, two more screws must be traversed. However, the player cannot fall off like the last time, because there is a black hole beneath the area. This task is made slightly harder, as two Octopuses will shoot coconuts at Mario. If timed correctly, they can be destroyed when they first appear. Once the player is on the platform where the Octopuses were, Mario can pick up the coins they leave behind. If Mario looks upwards, he can see Star Bits in the design of a star. A Launch Star is up ahead. However, a Bob-omb sprouts from a device underneath it, making getting to the Star, and getting the treasure from the blocks near it (the left one has Star Bits, while the right one has coins), time consuming. Mario can use his spin on the Bob-omb and throw it, waiting on the platform for a few moments until he can get the treasure and/or the Launch Star.

Mario soon lands on a small platform. This is much like the first mission of Battlerock Galaxy, except Mario doesn't have the leisure to go underneath the moving platform. Mario must dodge cannonballs, electric fences, and Goombas, while jumping to different platforms through use of gravity. Eventually, Mario will end up on a platform with a Thwomp that he must get past, which leads to more platforms. At the end of these platforms, Mario must jump to avoid shockwaves a Sentry Beam is making. When close enough, he can jump onto the Sentry Beam, and get the Power Star.

Revenge of the Topman Tribe

Topmaniac has returned and brought the Topmen with him. The player must go across the galaxy fighting his minions, until they end up in an area where they must fight Topmaniac and his allies.

Topman Tribe Speed Run (Speedy Comet)

When a Speedy Comet is in orbit, this mission is accessible. It is just like Revenge of the Topman Tribe, only with a 6-minute time limit, and Spiky Topmen appear along with Green Topmen.

Battlestation's Purple Coins (Purple Comet)

This level is access when a Purple Comet is in orbit. The player must collect 100 Purple Coins on the moving platforms from the end of Dreadnought's Colossal Cannons. Near the start, there is a Life Mushroom and a 1-Up Mushroom, which Mario can use them keep replenishing the lives he had. The only Star Bits on the level are along the wall where the cannons shoot. Unlike the "Purple Coins on the Battlerock" mission in Battlerock Galaxy, the platforms have no gravitational pull and the cannons shoot right at Mario. If on a non moving platform and have missed the moving one, another one will appear. The 100th coin is on the path of the Launch Star at the end.

There is a hidden Sling Star at the end of the moving platforms section, just after the Launch Star. It leads to the end of the level, but without collecting the final Purple Coin. It is only there so that people can attempt to get a score of 0 Purple Coins on the level.

Dreadnought's Garbage Dump

Like the similarly-named mission from the Battlerock Galaxy, Mario must blow up trash piles with Bob-ombs to get a star. However, here, there are more trash piles, and he has only 30 seconds.

  • This is the only galaxy in the game to have different starting planets for every mission.
