Bob Hoskins in the Super Mario Bros. live-action film.

Bob Hoskins (October 26, 1942 – ) is an Academy Award-nominated actor. He portrayed the live-action version of Mario seen in the movie Super Mario Bros., which was released in 1993. However, although he played Mario, the actor who played Luigi, John Leguizamo, got a larger role. This was due to Leguizamo being younger and more relatable.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, a British newspaper, Bob Hoskins revealed he largely hated working on the Super Mario Bros..
