The Sand Kingdom is a desert location featured in Super Mario Odyssey, and the third kingdom acccessed[1]. It is based on real world locations from Mexico, and is the greater location of Tostarena. Its Regional Coins are Pyramid Coins, which resemble the Inverted Pyramid.
The Sand Kingdom was the first location shown in the game, dating back to the first Nintendo Switch trailer.

Power Moon locations

There are a total of 89 Power Moons in the Sand Kingdom. Mario will need to collect at least 16 Power Moons to power up the Odyssey.
- 01. Atop the Highest Tower: Found by climbing to the top of the Tostarena Ruins Round Tower.
- 02. Moon Shards in the Sand: Found by collecting the Moon Shards in the Moe-Eye Habitat.
- 03. Showdown on the Inverted Pyramid (Multi Moon): Found by defeating Hariet on top of the Inverted Pyramid.
- 04. The Hole in the Desert (Multi Moon): Found by defeating Knucklotec in the Deepest Underground.
- 05. Overlooking the Desert Town: Found on top of a building in the Tostarena Town.
- 06. Alcove in the Ruins: Found in a hidden alcove in the Tostarena Ruins.
- 07. On the Leaning Pillar: Found on top of a stone pillar near the Tostarena Ruins Sand Pillar checkpoint.
- 08. Hidden Room in the Flowing Sands: Found in a secret room hidden near the Tostarena Ruins Sand Pillar checkpoint.
- 09. Secret of the Mural: Found hidden in a secret alcove in the 8-bit section on the Tostarena Ruins Round Tower.
- 10. Secret of the Inverted Mural: Found hidden in a secret area in the 8-bit section of the Inverted Pyramid.
- 11. On Top of the Stone Archway: Found on top of the large archway at the Tostarena Ruins Entrance.
- 12. From a Crate in the Ruins: Found inside a shiny wooden crate in the Tostarena Ruins.
- 13. On the Lone Pillar: Found on top of a stone pillar between the Inverted Pyramid and the Jaxi Ruins.
- 14. On the Statue's Tail: Found by throwing Cappy onto a Jaxi statue's tail (on top of the Inverted Pyramid) and holding him there for a few seconds.
- 15. Hang Your Hat on the Fountain: Found by throwing Cappy onto the top of the fountain (in the Tostarena Town) and holding him there for a few seconds.
- 16. Where the Birds Gather: Found by ground pounding a small mound of sand in the Desert Oasis.
- 17. Top of a Dune: Found by ground pounding on top of the tallest sand dune west of the Tostarena Town.
- 18. Lost in the Luggage: Found by ground pounding a glowing spot of sand near the entrance to the Inverted Pyramid.
- 19. Bullet Bill Breakthrough: Found by destroying a cage (using a Bullet Bill) near the Tostarena Ruins Sand Pillar checkpoint.
- 20. Inside a Block Is a Hard Place: Found by destroying a shiny stone block near the Tostarena Ruins Sand Pillar checkpoint.
- 21. Bird Traveling the Desert: Found by throwing Cappy at a large bird flying around the Sand Kingdom.
- 22. Bird Traveling the Wastes: Found by throwing Cappy at a large bird flying around the Jaxi Ruins.
- 23. The Lurker Under the Stone: Found by ground pounding a strange moving mound of stone on top of the Inverted Pyramid.
- 24. The Treasure of Jaxi Ruins: Found inside a treasure chest at the Jaxi Ruins (accessible by traversing through the Ice Caves).
- 25. Desert Gardening: Plaza Seed: Found by planting the seed in Tostarena Town and waiting for it to bloom.
- 26. Desert Gardening: Ruins Seed: Found by planting the seed in the Tostarena Ruins and waiting for it to bloom.
- 27. Desert Gardening: Seed on the Cliff: Found by planting the seed hidden on a cliff (on the western side of the Kingdom) and waiting for it to bloom.
- 28. Sand Kingdom Timer Challenge 1: Found by throwing Cappy at a scarecrow on top of the building in the Tostarena Northwestern Reaches and then collecting the Power Moon before it disappears.
- 29. Sand Kingdom Timer Challenge 2: Found by stepping on a P Switch in the Moe-Eye Habitat and then collecting the Power Moon before it disappears.
- 30. Sand Kingdom Timer Challenge 3: Found by throwing Cappy at a scarecrow (east of the Jaxi Ruins) and then collecting the Power Moon before it disappears.
- 31. Found in the Sand! Good Dog!: Found by following the dog near the Crazy Cap Shop until it leads Mario to a hidden Power Moon.
- 32. Taking Notes: Jump on the Palm: Found by collecting all the Rainbow Notes on top of the palm trees in the Desert Oasis.
- 33. Herding Sheep in the Dunes: Found by returning three sheep to their Tostarenan owner.
- 34. Fishing in the Oasis: Found by capturing the Lakitu in the Desert Oasis and then using it to fish up a Big Cheep Cheep from the water.
- 35. Love in the Heart of the Desert: Found by capturing a Goomba and using it to make a Goomba Tower in order to reach Goombette near the Tostarena Ruins Sand Pillar.
- 36. Among the Five Cactuses: Found by using a Jaxi to destroy the line of five cactuses in the central-north section of the Kingdom.
- 37. You're Quite a Catch, Captain Toad!: Found by capturing the Lakitu in the Desert Oasis and then using it to fish up a Big Cheep Cheep from the sand at the north end of the Oasis.
- 38. Jaxi Reunion!: Found by riding a Jaxi to an empty platform across from a Jaxi statue near the Desert Oasis.
- 39. Welcome Back, Jaxi!: Found by riding a Jaxi to an empty platform on top of the Inverted Pyramid.
- 40. Wandering Cactus: Found by capturing a cactus near the Desert Oasis and then ground pounding the spot under it.
- 41. Sand Quiz: Wonderful!: Found by answering five questions from the Sphynx correctly.
- 42. Shopping in Tostarena: Found by purchasing it from the Crazy Cap Shop (in Tostarena Town) for 100 yellow Coins.
- 43. Employees Only: Found by entering through the secret back door of the Crazy Cap Shop.
- 44. Sand Kingdom Slots: Found by lining up all three Moon-symbols on the Slots mini-game in Tostarena Town.
- 45. Walking the Desert!: Found by scoring at least 80 points on the Koopa Trace-Walking mini-game.
- 46. Hidden Room in the Inverted Pyramid: Found in a hidden room inside the Inverted Pyramid, which is accessed by following some stone pillars into an opening in the wall.
- 47. Underground Treasure Chest: Found on top of the right wall near the end of the Underground Temple.
- 48. Goomba Tower Assembly: Found by creating a Goomba Tower in the Underground Temple and using it to reach the high Power Moon.
- 49. Under the Mummy's Curse: Found by defeating a glowing Chincho in the Deepest Underground.
- 50. Ice Cave Treasure: Found on top of the final stone pillar in the Ice Caves.
- 51. Sphynx's Treasure Vault: Found by answering a question from the Sphynx correctly.
- 52. A Rumble from the Sandy Floor: Found by entering the Warp Pipe near the "Overlooking the Desert Town" Power Moon and using the controller's rumble feature to find the hidden Power Moon.
- 53. Dancing with New Friends: Found by entering a building only accessible with the Sombrero hat and Poncho outfit.
- 54. The Invisible Maze: Found by entering a secret area north of the Moe-Eye Habitat and reaching the end of the invisible platforms.
- 55. Skull Sign in the Transparent Maze: Found by throwing Cappy at the sign with the skull (in the area with the "The Invisible Maze" Power Moon) and holding him there for a few seconds.
- 56. The Bullet Bill Maze: Break Through!: Found by entering the building at the Tostarena Northwestern Reaches and then reaching the end.
- 57. The Bullet Bill Maze: Side Path: Found hidden on a side path in the area with the "The Bullet Bill Maze: Break Through!" Power Moon.
- 58. Jaxi Driver: Found at the end of the cave located at the Jaxi Ruins.
- 59. Jaxi Stunt Driving: Found by collecting all of the Rainbow Notes in the cave at the Jaxi Ruins.
- 60. Strange Neighborhood: Found by using the Mini Rocket in the Tostarena Town to go to a secret area and then reaching the end of that secret area.
- 61. Above a Strange Neighborhood: Found hidden above some blocks in the area with the "Strange Neighborhood" Power Moon.

- 64. Jammin' in the Sand Kingdom: Found by playing the correct music for Toad, who is located on top of a building in Tostarena Town.

- 67. Binding Band Returned: Found by ground pounding the top of the Binding Band located in the Deepest Underground.
