Not to be confused with Boss Blitz.

The Boss Blitz Galaxy is one of the many galaxies found in Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is located in World S and can be unlocked after obtaining 100 Power Stars.

This galaxy pits the player against five bosses from the first game. The player faces off against Dino Piranha, King Kaliente, Major Burrows, Bouldergeist and Fiery Dino Piranha, in that specific order.

Planets

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all names are unofficial.

Dino Piranha's planet

This planet is where the player must face Dino Piranha. It is almost an exact replica of the planet from Super Mario Galaxy, except that now there are no flowers that give coins when shot with Star Bits. All of the other planets in the Boss Blitz can be seen in the distance.

King Kaliente's planet

This planet is where Mario must face King Kaliente. The planet has the same appearance as it did in Super Mario Galaxy, with the addition of both the Comet Medal and a Life Mushroom hidden under the battlefield.

Major Burrows' planet

This planet is where Mario must face Major Burrows. The planetoid itself is an exact replica of the planet found in the Gusty Garden Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, except that Major Burrows is not seen chasing a Star Bunny this time around.

Bouldergeist's planet

This planet is where the player must face Bouldergeist. Little has changed from the original in Super Mario Galaxy, with a checkpoint flag placed near Lumalee. The player will be launched to a small meteorite after the ghoul's defeat.

Meteor planet

This planet is a small gray meteorite with a Launch Star that will take the player to the final planet.

Fiery Dino Piranha's planet

This last planet is where the player must finally face Fiery Dino Piranha. Like most of the other planets in this galaxy, Fiery Dino Piranha's planet is unchanged.

Throwback Throwdown

To get the Power Star, the player has to defeat all of the five bosses, all of which have their tactics unchanged from the first game and the battles will begin as soon as the player lands on the respective planet. The player will begin by landing on top of Dino Piranha's egg and the first battle will begin. After being defeated, a Launch Star will appear, which leads to King Kaliente's planet. Underneath King Kaliente's planet is a Life Mushroom and the galaxy's Comet Medal. A Launch Star will appear by the pool of lava after defeating King Kaliente, which will shoot the player to a duel with Major Burrows. Unlike the first game, when the player lands on the planet, Major Burrows is moving, yet he is not chasing anything at the start. When Major Burrows is defeated, another Launch Star will appear, which will send Mario to fight Bouldergeist. Just before the fight, there is Lumalee and a Checkpoint Flag. When defeated, a Launch Star will appear, sending the player to a very small icy planet with another Launch Star. This Launch Star is needed to crack Fiery Dino Piranha's egg. When Fiery Dino Piranha is defeated, the Power Star will appear.

Throwback Throwdown Speed Run

Mario fights Bouldergeist with a strict time limit.

The Speedy Comet must be in orbit in order to select this mission. The objective is the same as the first mission, only there is a strict time limit of five minutes. If the player manages to defeat all five bosses before time runs out, they are granted a Power Star. There are no Plus Clocks to be found during the mission.

Green Star 1

Mario near the first Green Star.

The first Green Star is located on the planet where Major Burrows is fought. The Green Star is located high in the tree. All the player has to do is simply wall jump or perform a backwards somersault up to the star. If the player is unable to fully meet the heights, then they may need to spin right near the star.

The last Green Power Star is located below the edge of the Bouldergeist planet, into the abyss. The player must simply head over to the backside of the circular arena while avoiding the Boltergeist's attacks. The player needs to carefully fall off the back of the arena in order to land on the Green Star.
