Spikey Piranha Plants are a new sub-species of Piranha Plant in the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. They resemble giant black Piranha Plants covered in red spikes. There is only one of these enemies in the entire game, and it's encountered in the Sky Station Galaxy during the Storming the Sky Fleet mission.
This enemy holds a key to the locked up Power Star nearby. It attacks in the same way as its spikeless purple variant; slamming its head onto the ground. However, the player can't jump on it, due to its spikes, so he or she will need to use the nearby Stretch Plant to defeat it.
