Gates appear as objects in Super Mario Galaxy 2. As their name plainly suggests, they are red-and-yellow gates that Mario (or Luigi) and Fluzzard can glide through. Once Mario and Fluzzard glide through all five gates in a single galaxy, a glass dome holding the galaxy's Comet Medal disappears, allowing them to collect it. Gates appear only in the Wild Glide Galaxy and the Fleet Glide Galaxy.
