Sleepy Boos,[1] also known as Giant Boos[2] or Big Boos,[3][4] are enemies in Super Mario Sunshine. They are a variant of Big Boo. They appear in Episode 3 of Sirena Beach only. Sleepy Boos are stationed in various passages of Hotel Delfino, mostly in the attic, but one is also located on the second floor of the hotel, blocking the sole passage between two rooms. Though Sleepy Boos do not wake up in response to anything, they will do one point of damage to Mario if he makes contact. The only way to defeat a Sleepy Boo and therefore for Mario to bypass it is for a Yoshi to eat it. If Mario touches a Sleepy Boo while on a Yoshi, he will be flung off the Yoshi, but it is very hard for Mario to mount the Yoshi again since he will be too close to the Sleepy Boo.
