Bowling birds[1] are a species of bowling pin-shaped dodos[2] in Donkey Kong Country Returns and its port. They are encountered in Blowhole Bound only, where three separate flocks can be encountered on the same island as the checkpoint booth. Bowling birds are harmless, and the Kongs can roll into them like a bowling ball to take them out. If a flock of bowling birds is taken out entirely with a single roll attack, the player is rewarded an item: the two flocks closest to the checkpoint booth produce a Banana Coin each, while the one further ahead nets a bunch of 10 bananas instead. If the Kongs pound the ground around bowling birds, they tremble.
