Mario & Luigi: Brothership is an upcoming role-playing game set to be released worldwide for the Nintendo Switch on November 7, 2024. First announced during the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024, it is the sixth original installment in the Mario & Luigi series and its eighth installment overall, following the 2015 original title, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, and the 2018 remake, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, respectively. It marks the debut of Mario & Luigi on home consoles, and Kevin Afghani as the voice of the Mario brothers in this series. Much like Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, this game is a graphically pivotal entry in the Mario & Luigi franchise; this time, it fully incorporates 3D environments and character models, and a more artwork-accurate art style.
Brothership is the first Mario & Luigi title to not be developed by AlphaDream, which ceased operations immediately after filing for bankruptcy on October 1, 2019. Several developers from AlphaDream who were originally involved in previous Mario & Luigi games return for the development of this game.[1]
Plot
In the Mushroom Kingdom, Luigi is chased by a swarm of bees in a forest near Peach's Castle, and accidentally runs off a cliff before Mario saves him. Afterwards, Mario and Luigi's hands begin to glow, and a large, bright portal materializes from them in the sky, which teleports the brothers away.[2]
The sea of the world of Concordia acts as the game's primary setting. Shipshape Island is a structure described as "part ship, part island" and is depicted as the main hub. Mario and Luigi launch themselves out of the Shipshape's cannon to explore distinct islands.[3]
