Pit Boss is a Bowser minigame in Mario Party 6 and Mario Party Superstars. In real life, a pit boss is a person who supervises all the other employees in a casino.
Gameplay
The minigame starts with all players in a pit. Suddenly, Bowser appears and throws a large Spiked Ball into it, which players have to avoid. If the ball crashes into one of the players, that player is eliminated and is put in a cage. Eventually, the Spiked Ball loses speed and stops. Bowser, infuriated, throws two more Spiked Balls into the pit. These new balls hit the first one and cause it to start rolling again, and gameplay continues as before. Whoever survives until all the Spiked Balls stop moving is a/the winner. If all remaining players are knocked out at the same time (Mario Party 6), or if everyone is eliminated by having a spiked sphere simultaneously knock against them while tying in 4th place (Mario Party Superstars), the minigame ends in a tie.
In Mario Party Superstars, during Free Play, this minigame is treated as a 4-Player minigame; as such, it immediately ends when there is one player left standing.
